Two Italian visitors in May
Tuesday, May 11th
Nadia Zenato will be visiting us from one of the Veneto's finest wine producing estates.
Zenato produces Amarone della Valpolicella, Valpolicella, Valpolicella Ripassa, and Lugana, along with various blends of Merlot, Chardonnay, Cabernet, and other varietals-a wide selection of wines, all well regarded. (Attached is an information sheet on Nadia and Zenato, supplied by Zenato distributor, Winebow.)
On the evening of the 11th, customers interested in the Zenato wines will be given two options: They may order from our regular menu of the evening and choose from a complete list of Zenato wines, or partake of a special prix fixe menu prepared by Chef Paul Bertolli, with dishes matched to a selection of Zenato wines. Please let our reservationist know you are a "Zenato customer" and we will try to seat you near Nadia's table should you want to meet her and engage in discussion.
Monday, May 24th
A very special friend of Oliveto's, Roberto Stucchi Prinetti, will be visiting us from Tuscany's Badia a Coltibuono.
Our relationship with Roberto and his family goes back to the roots of Oliveto, when Bob and Maggie stayed at the Coltibuono while Maggie put together a book about olive oil. (Hence, Oliveto). Decades later, Roberto has become one of the best people to talk to in depth about wine, agricultural economics, organic principles, politics, tradition, and globalization. He is articulate, thoughtful, and refreshing. In an event at Oliveto in 1999, he began our series of discussions on terroir, which has helped shape the way we've thought about food and place. (Read Paul Bertolli's summary of those discussions.)
On Monday, May 24th, at 4:00 pm, we will have an informal chat with Roberto, updating our 1999 discussions. Dinner will feature Coltibuono wines. As with the Zenato visit, we will try and seat those interested in Coltibuono wines and in meeting Roberto in the same area of the restaurant. (Let our reservationist know when you call.)
