"EDMUNDS ST. JOHN" Winemaker Dinner

We are pleased to welcome our friends Steve Edmunds and Cornelia St. John of Edmunds St. John winery to Oliveto on Friday, August 22. We have long felt a special affinity for Steve's wines and his grounded approach, which mirrors our own: "Wine [like food] should express itself naturally and should taste like it comes from a place." Edmunds takes his inspiration from the grape varieties and flavors of the Rhône Valley but makes wines of singular personality and style rooted in our California soil. A modest practitioner, Edmunds regards himself as more observer than winemaker, following as he does the old maxim that "wine makes itself." Nevertheless, Edmunds' wines reflect his unique sensitivity and superb stewardship of grape and cask. His wines are truly exceptional. Come meet Steve and Cornelia and taste the wines of one of California's most passionate winemakers. Chef Paul Bertolli will prepare a five-course prix fixe menu ($55) within the à la carte offering to complement recent as well as vintage bottles from Steve's personal cellar. All wine will be offered by the glass and half glass and in a tasting flight.
